Christmas card Inspiration

Visual Inspiration

I've explored a range of responses to Christmas card briefs that follow my chosen concepts and themes.

The designs below use specifically designed icons and shapes to create a Christmas themed pattern. The combination of colours and chosen stroke weights and shapes make for a clear Christmas look. The designs come in black or white, both backgrounds allow for the pattern to stand out.

In terms of production, using a repeated pattern would be a good idea. One possible production method would be to print the pattern, digitally or traditionally, on large paper. It can then be cut down to size, reducing production time and cost. I could then screen print the message of the top.

Following the vibrance theme, the example below is a smart way of using a range of vibrant, fluorescent colours.
The use of layers makes for an interactive card that can be changed according the the order they're put in.

An idea inspired by this would be to make each layer represent something about the Uni and/or Christmas. One card could have the LCA logo die cut into it, another would have something christmassy etc.

Similarly, this pull-out format makes the user engage with it in order to expose the message inside. The use of red makes for a clear resemblance of Christmas and Santa Claus. They have also designed a very minimalist pictogram representing a Christmas trees and other classic festive objects.

If I were to recreate this, I'd have the circle as the LCA mosaic logo shape. When inserted, it would read LCA and then when pulled out it would expose the messaging. The outer sleeve would  also include the mosaic pattern similar to the example below.

Another theme I could possibly explore is friendly. Below is a series of xmas cards that have illustrations of Santa performing various tasks. They have an overall friendly tone of voice ad would be suitable for an xmas card as people would be happy to receive it. It also uses humour which is another avenue to go down, especially with the humorous political climate at the moment.
